Elder Services

Overview

Elder Services at JFS addresses the needs of those over 60 year of age and their family members. The main components are:

  • Geriatric Care Management serves elders living in the community, assisted living facilities or nursing homes. JFS helps elders and their families identify needs and connect with the vast community resources that are available to elders in Central Massachusetts. Geriatric Care Managers also provide mental health counseling to elders and caregivers.

  • Guardianship cares for elders no longer competent to legally make decisions on their own behalf and manage their own affairs. Guardianship involves the interface of medical, legal, financial and social services matters.

JFS case managers, with a total of more than 70 years of professional experience, are dedicated to helping elders and their families.

JFS Elder Services is generously supported by allocations from United Way of Central Massachusetts and Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts.

  • JFS is the lead agency for Neighborhood Connections, the first Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) in Central Massachusetts.

NORC communities support services within the community to address the changing needs that occur with aging so elders will not have to relocate.

The mission of Neighborhood Connections is to connect elders with the private and community services that enable them to remain living within the security, convenience and comfort of their own homes. This is the 'aging in place' movement.

Because home is where your heart is!

"I have worked with JFS on hundreds of occasions. I have found, without exception, the staff to be thoroughly competent and professional. They have always kept our common goal, the protection of the individual elder involved, paramount."
