The Club

THE CLUB was founded in June,1988 initially as a social organization for adult members of the Jewish community who have special needs.  The goal of THE CLUB is to provide an opportunity for social interaction for the members who have developmental or psychiatric disabilities while providing a brief respite for their families and caregivers.  Meetings are held at least once a month and include social, cultural and religious programming, with a strong Jewish content.

THE CLUB has a membership of 30, with 8-10 active members.  Dues are $18 a year, and have not increased for many years.  Programs range from celebrating Succot, Chanukah and Purim at local synagogues; to going out to restaurants and movies; as well as talent shows, pizza/video nights and family picnics at JFS.  We welcome new members at any time but have also experienced and mourned the losses of several members over the years.

THE CLUB has been fortunate to benefit from the generous financial support from the Probus Club over the years, including assisting members with transportation (by cab) when no other alternatives were available.

“I am grateful very much so for all of this. The Jewish community of Worcester is fortunate as well to have JFS there.”
